Bar Awards will have local producers in full force, here's how the event's shaping up

With Bar Awards only weeks away, we’re working hard behind the scenes to bring you the awards night on Monday August 5, where the winners from each of the 11 award categories will be revealed.

Bar Awards is set to not only spotlight those moving Newcastle’s drink scene forward, but the event itself will showcase some of the region’s best brews, food, wine, and spirits.

It's going to be a spectacular night, and tickets are now on sale.

ON ARRIVAL

Taking place in one of Newcastle’s most atmospheric venues, Bartholomew’s, guests will be welcomed with a cocktail on arrival from our fabulous Major Partner, The Farmer’s Wife Distillery. Distiller Kylie and her team will be there to welcome and share her range of much loved and awarded gins.

Once inside, general admission guests will mingle under the chandeliers and be treated to a selection of canapes curated by Head Chef Jeremy Fahy and the Bartholomew’s team.

Our VIP guests will be whisked up the staircase and welcomed with a signature cocktail from The Farmer's Wife Distillery. Mingling on the mezzanine area, guests will be able to catch all the happenings of the crowd below as they flow in whilst enjoying canapes curated by Will from Arno Deli.

THE EATS

VIPs will then take to their seats and enjoy a winter-inspired three-course meal, paired perfectly with the Hunter Valley’s Brokenwood Wines. Desserts have been placed in the safe hands of Cakeboi’s Reece Hignell, who will be producing a selection of delicious sweet treats as only Reece can.

THE DRINKS

The drinks menu is a showcase of the region's best, starting with the award-winning Brokenwood Wines who has come on board as Bar Awards event Wine Partner.

For those who prefer an ale, the taps will be flowing with beer by Newcastle’s best craft breweries, including Foghorn Brewery, Goodfolk Brewing, Grainfed Brewing Co., Maltnhops Brewhaus, Method Brewing, Modus Brewing, The Rogue Scholar, and Shout Brewing Co. Across the venue, The Farmer’s Wife Distillery will be the gin of choice.

THE EVENT

Taking the reins for the evening will be the effervescent Myffy Rigby as our MC. The former national editor of the Sydney Morning Herald’s influential Good Food Guide and now editor of Swill Magazine knows the hospitality industry better than most, and will bring her upbeat energy to the evening.

THE AWARDS

Let’s not forget why we’re here – the event night is time to acknowledge the finalists across each of the 11 x Bar Award categories and three People’s Choice Awards, with our judges' decisions being revealed and the winners taking home the trophies.

THE ENTERTAINMENT

Once the formalities are all done and dusted, it’s time to move into party mode and let the entertainment and beverages flow into the night. Bar Awards will be an epic showcase of Newcastle’s bar scene and the talent we have in our city. It couldn’t be achieved without the help of our Producing Event Partner we are neighbourgood and its powerhouse Founder & Director, Kristy Austin.
