What do you get when six of Newcastle’s craft breweries all get together under the one roof?

The answer… DARK vs DARK. 

A new event concept created as a part of the 2024 Bar Awards event lineup, DARK vs DARK sees some of the legends of Newcastle’s craft beer scene – Foghorn Brewery, Good Folk Brewing, Shout Brewing, Method Brewing, Grainfed Brewing Company, and Modus Merewether – go head to head with their dark ales, in what will be a craft beer event for the ages.

Hosted by Modus Brewing’s co-owner Grant Wearin at Modus Merewether, you'll be able to hear each of the brewers' stories in a Q&A with Grant, and find out why their dark beer should be crowned champion of the evening.

Naturally, you'll be able to sample all of the dark beers on offer, plus enjoy a schooner on arrival, chicken wings, and a juicy burger and chips.

Following the Q&A will be a hot wing relay challenge, a pachinko board with heaps of prizes to take home from each of the breweries, acoustic live music and, of course, the award ceremony which will see one of the breweries taking home the trophy for the best dark beer.
