Best Wine List

Established in 1970, Brokenwood has become not only one of Australia’s most recognised wine brands, but a Hunter Valley must-visit.

Starting as a weekend hobby venture for Sydney lawyers James Halliday, Tony Albert, and John Beeston, Brokenwood’s evolution has continued, and in December 2018, Brokenwood opened its doors to the biggest project to date.

A 12-month construction project and $8 million development, saw the launch of the now-iconic cellar door on McDonald’s Road in Pokolbin.

Today what you can expect, if you’re yet to visit, is a truly world-class wine tasting experience. Within the venue there are a mix of tasting experiences, from the large tasting room that features circular tasting ‘pods’, an expansive outdoor terrace, two private tasting rooms, and two private dining rooms, to a wine museum, and lounge area.

Brokenwood also houses two dining venues, the relaxed dining experience Cru Bar + Pantry and modern dining room, The Wood Restaurant.

The venue’s museum overlooks the working barrel hall and KB’s Lookout – a unique space above the tasting room named in honour of the late Keith Barry (KB) who was the winery’s vineyard manager for 23 years.

Brokenwood is the proud partner of Bar Awards – Best Wine List.
