New Lambton’s intimate neighbourhood Italian restaurant and wine bar, Alfie’s, announces the appointment of Nikhil Bhanot to the position of Head Chef.

Working alongside Executive Chef Rafael Tonon, Bhanot will continue the ethos known and loved at Alfie’s and bring his knowledge and expertise to the group.

Bhanot has relocated from Sydney where he most recently held the role of Executive Chef at Fabbrica Pasta Bar, a stronghold in the Love Tilly Group stable. His previous experience spans various hatted restaurants including Ragazzi, Bar Copains, Movida, Nomad, and Cut Bar & Grill.

“I’m so excited for the next chapter of my career as Head Chef at Alfie’s. Neighbourhood dining is very close to my heart, and I’m thrilled to bring my experience to New Lambton and Newcastle – it’s been a great move for me,” Nikhil said.

Tonon will take on the role of Executive Chef as Alfie’s expands its event offering Alfie’s Catering at Ravella (formerly 48 Watt Street) and Leaves and Fishes.

“I have known Nikhil for many years and have watched his career go from strength to strength. I couldn’t be happier for us to work alongside each other and to have him join the Alfie’s team as we continue to deliver the curated experience at Alfie’s New Lambton and expand our catering offering,” Rafael said.

Alfie’s Italian + Wine Bar will continue to deliver an always evolving shared menu based on seasonal and locally sourced produce. With its well-known mix of classic and contemporary Italian dishes including an extensive antipasti offering, primi courses, fresh handmade pasta, robust secondi dishes and dolce delights, you can be sure that Alfie’s promise remains the same.
