From filming school sports carnivals and videos of their friends skating in high school, to now running their very own creative studio – it’s safe to say that Toby Tull and Elliot Swift have come a long way.

These powerhouse local creatives are the team behind the recently launched Newy Studio, a fully kitted-out studio space in Mayfield West that has already been a hit with local businesses, content creators, and creatives.

You might know Toby from digital marketing agency Newy Digital, and Elliot from videography and film business Elms Media. The duo have joined forces to bring Newy Studio to life with their expertise.

The studio in Steel River boasts a number of separate, dedicated spaces that are a creative’s dream. Walking in on the ground floor, you’ll find a content studio with plenty of natural light, funky furniture and props, a multi-colour backdrop system, and lighting for hire – perfect for creators wanting to capture content for Instagram and TikTok.

Continue through the space and you’ll reach the studio’s co-working space, where freelancers, remote workers, and startups can get their productivity going with high-speed internet, modern desks, meeting spots, and obviously, coffee.

Head up the stairs, and you’ll arrive at the production space and podcasting studio, where you can shoot everything from headshots to a full-scale production with a state-of-the-art lighting suite and coloured backdrops, or finally record that podcast you’ve been dreaming about.

What makes Newy Studio even more impressive, apart from the fact that you can find all of these spaces in one giant, converted shed, is the fact that the whole thing has come together in only a matter of months.

Prior to launching Newy Studio, Toby and Elliot were both working out of their homes, but they knew that having their own studio would be ideal.

“Personally, it’s always been a thing for me, wanting to be in a space with other creatives… I think the opportunity was too good to pass up when it came up,” Toby said.

Not only has Newy Studio already been a winner with clients like drag queen Timberlina, fashion brand FAYT The Label, and charity Talk2mebro, but it’s helped connect local photographers, videographers, and other creatives who use the space. The guys are passionate about fostering this community of freelancers who collaborate with each other and support one another.

“There's so much strength in not gatekeeping and being open about everything. You realise how you are just dealing with the same stuff.”

Ultimately, Newy Studio is more than just a place to work – it’s a creative haven where ideas, connections, and businesses can thrive.
